VV-IV

This is a Victor Victrola IV (The Fourth) phonograph built between 1911 and 1924. Based on the serial number 267989E I believe it is from around 1916. The Victor Victrola IV was lowest of the line, the entry point for purchasing a Victrola making it a very common machine. Over 608,000 machines were produced. The VV IV has a single spring motor and 10" turntable. The most common variation is the slats in the front of the internal horn.

This particular machine was found in a local antique mall in rather nice condition except for missing its crank. The reproducer was in dire straights and has been replaced with a period correct No. 2 reproducer. Most of the rest of the restoration was simple cleaning. The nickel plating on the tonearm has some minor pitting, but overall, the machine is in great condition. It could use a coat of lacquer.

The pictures below show some before and after shots.
