* 1906 Columbia BK

This 1906 Columbia Graphaphone cylinder player is the BK Jewel model. This was an entry level machine in the B series from 1906 through 1909, featuring a double-spring motor and the "Improved Lyric" reproducer.

This particular machine was found in a local estate sale. The cylinder player is missing the correct crank and escutcheon and the bedplate needs to be repainted, but the machine is otherwise complete and plays rather well. The lyric reproducer may have been rebuilt at some time in the past, it getting a little fuzzy on the high notes. I have done little to this unit as of yet other than a quick cleaning and oiling. Although the gears are a little noisy, it plays nicely and looks great. The 11 panel horn is an Edison Home horn that makes the unit loud.

This is a nice little project machine for a rainy day.

The pictures below show some before shots; after shots are not yet available.
